De Rockland, Ontario, est décédé subitement et paisiblement entouré de sa famille, le mardi 6 mai 2025, à l’âge de 67 ans. Époux bien-aimé de Elizabeth « Beth » Donald (née LeBrun). Fils bien-aimé de Joy (Gallant) et de feu James Donald. Père bien-aimé de Samantha (Marc Tassé) et de Jennifer (Charles Seguin). Grand-père chéri de Ethan Skinner, Mia, Zoe, Aubrey, Lily Tassé, Benoit, Theo et Esmé Seguin. Frère bien-aimé de Jill (Sylvain Guindon) et de feu Jeff. Il laisse dans le deuil ses beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, nièces, neveux, parents et amis. La famille désire remercier sincèrement l’équipe de l’Unité de soins intensifs du Campus général de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa pour sa chaleureuse compassion.

John Cole Donald, my best friend of 60 years, was a constant in my life — a brother in all but blood. We shared laughter, sorrow, secrets, and silences, but our friendship, forged in the reckless joy of youth, allowed for such pauses. Ever grateful he gave me the opportunity to share our sentiments and a proper goodbye, granting each of us, with our lifelong friendship, a beautiful closure. My sincerest empathy and condolences to Beth, Sam, Jenn, Marc, Charles, and all the grandchildren who John affectionately wanted them to call him 'Grumpa', Jill and John's mom. He will be sadly missed but left us all grateful he was ever there - as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, my best friend. A gift in our lives.
