Frederick Berwick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in Ottawa, ON. Born on January 22, 1934, Fred was a resident of Sawyerville, QC until he and his wife, June (Mogensen), moved to the Ottawa area in 1995. Dear son of the late George Albert Berwick and the late Vennie Smith. Beloved husband of June (Mogensen). He is survived by his children, Sheryl (Kevin Meehan) and Scott (Linda Legault-Berwick). Cherished grandfather of Lindsay and Jacob Meehan, Kyle and Alex Berwick. Will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Dorothy (late William ”Bill” Henderson) and Marjorie (late Clinton French). The family wishes to thank the teams of the Champlain Home and Community Care Support Services and the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their great care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation can be made, https://ohfoundation.ca/.

 Freddie to many, Fred was a kind man who loved to play cards and to dance. He always surrounded himself with animals, particularly dogs and horses, and had a knack for keeping plants.

 

A small graveside service will be held on Saturday June 29 2024 at 2:00 pm at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Randboro, Qué.

To us, Fred, Uncle Freddie or Freddiekins, was more than just a family member, he was a best friend. Gentle, caring, never wanting to impose and helpful in any way that he could offer assistance. His kindness to everyone including to animals was exemplary. Spending time with him meant that it was going to be a fun and memorable day, one we always looked forward to. The trips, antiquing, flea markets, card games, dinners, visits, all but cherished memories now and we have him to thank for that. We will sorely miss him and it is with great sorrow that we bid goodbye. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to June especially and the family. May he rest in peace. Joe and Linda Oliveras
