Obituary

Of Rockland, Ontario, passed away suddenly, peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Beth” Donald (Nee LeBrun). Dear son of Joy (Gallant) and the late James Donald. Loving father of Samantha (Marc Tassé) and Jennifer (Charles Seguin). Cherished grandfather of Ethan Skinner, Mia, Zoe, Aubrey, Lily Tassé, Benoit, Theo and Esmé Seguin. Dear brother of Jill (Sylvain Guindon) and late Jeff. Will be fondly remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Sincere thanks to the team of the ICU of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their warm compassion.

A celebration of life will be held privately.

John Cole Donald, my best friend of 60 years, was a constant in my life — a brother in all but blood. We shared laughter, sorrow, secrets, and silences, but our friendship, forged in the reckless joy of youth, allowed for such pauses. Ever grateful he gave me the opportunity to share our sentiments and a proper goodbye, granting each of us, with our lifelong friendship, a beautiful closure. My sincerest empathy and condolences to Beth, Sam, Jenn, Marc, Charles, and all the grandchildren who John affectionately wanted them to call him 'Grumpa', Jill and John's mom. He will be sadly missed but left us all grateful he was ever there - as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, my best friend. A gift in our lives.
