Obituary

Ted (Thomas Edward) GREGORY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished, Ted in Mont Tremblant, QC. Ted is preceded in death by his brother Bill. Ted is survived by his wife Drieke, his son Harry (Melanie), his sister Bev (Ralph), his grandson Jasper, his nieces Allison and Ria, and his nephew Royce. After graduating from Woodroffe H.S., McMaster and Queens U., Ted started a decades long career in Education. Ted, and his Family, spent several years in Europe while he taught for the Canadian Armed Forces. After an early retirement (1999), Ted spent his winter seasons skiing at Tremblant and a month in the Caribbean, his summers biking and kayaking in Pembroke, while travelling in between. In the following years he slowly transitioned to spending more time in Mont Tremblant…with, almost, the last decade being spent as a Tremblant local. Ted was very proud to count himself as one of the Volunteer Info-Ski members at Mont Tremblant, being the first anglophone member in their ranks. Over his life he made and kept close friends in Ottawa, Pembroke, Europe, Tremblant, and Jamaica.

A gathering of family and friends will be held privately in both the Mont Tremblant and Ottawa area in the near future.

For dear Drieke and Harry and family. The absolute shock of learning of Ted's passing has been assuaged somewhat by so many memories of good times - no, fun times - spent together with our Lahr Secondary School DND friends. Strong bonds of friendship formed overseas in the late '80s were reinforced by many DND reunions and stories. Oh, the stories and the laughs that followed! Yes, we hurt as we mourn but we are ever so thankful for our experience knowing such a talented, creative, funny and loving man.

More shocked than saddened to hear of Ted's passing. The reality here of all of us aging strikes home with a profound sense of our mortality. I enjoyed working with Ted as his unruffled demeanor worked well for him in the classroom and I trust in life too. Salveo.

I am a Fellowes First graduate. I had Ted fir a theater arts teacher in Gradev11. He taught us so much how to breathe and improvise. He was one of the best teachers. Then I got to know Drieke when I supplied for her at the Maranhill Literacy program. She loved the people there. Both Ted and Driek showed compassion for everyone. You will be missed Ted. Sending hugs and prayers to Drieke and her son and family.
