Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the Paul Family announces the passing of Mr. Yvon Paul of Vanier, Ontario, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 98. He was the beloved husband for over 74 years of Murielle (nee Brunet) and dear father of Suzanne (Michel Jolicoeur), Marc (Pauline), Philippe (Francine Charron). Proud grandfather of Derrick (Christine), Vincent (Natasha), Amelia (Stéphane), Dominic, Stéphane, Jaline (Brandon) and great-grandfather of Maryse, Alexi and Laurent. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Claudette Deschamps (Paul) and his brother-in-law Gilles Brunet (Réjeanne) as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Yvon was born in Bourget, Ontario on March 1st, 1926. He was the son of the late Pierre Paul and the late Marie Hogue. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Donat, Urbain, Annette Gauthier, Rhéa Viau, Rhéal, Alice Éthier, Doris, Lorette Roberts, Yvette Gravel, Albertine Zipes and Aldéo.
Yvon was a career police officer with the city of Vanier. He retired as an Inspector in 1984 and enjoyed a long and fulfilling retirement. Yvon and Murielle loved to travel especially to warmer climates during the winter. They enjoyed family dinners as well as gatherings at the cottage to celebrate special occasions. He remained an enthusiastic hockey fan throughout his life and he was always ready for a good game of cards.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Montfort Residence for their care and compassion.
For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society may be made in Mr. Paul’s memory.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Notre-Dame de Lourdes Church, 435 Montreal Road, Ottawa, Ontario.
The family will receive condolences at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
