Of Rockland, Ontario, passed away at home on Monday May 20th, 2024, at the age of 96.  Beloved wife of the late Harold Gibbons.  Dear daughter of the late Patrick Mahoney and the late Gertrude (nee Harkin).  Loving mother of the late Shawn (Lynn Barber), Alan (Susan McFaul), Sharon Ann (James Horton), Mary Jo (Tony Sponza) and Maureen Gibbons (Brian Harrigan). Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Kelsey, Jordan, Matthew, Nicholas, Jonathan, Sarah, Caitlin, Ryan, Maria, Thomas and great grandmother of Logan, Ethan, Jonathan, Owen, Willow, and Noah. Will be fondly remembered by many, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Predeceased by her siblings Lorraine Charlton, Clare Rudd, and John R. Mahoney.

Sincere thanks to the Dr. Yves Lefebvre and the staff of the Jean Coutu pharmacy in Rockland, the Paramedic Services, Saint Elizabeth Health Services, the Rockland OPP for their good care and compassion.

To the Gibbons Family and especially Shawn (we went to school together for a little while and if my memory serves me right, we both went to Coquitlam as part of the Young Voyageurs of Canada, a federal government program, it was back in 1972), my deepest sympathy. I remember from many, many years ago, how the family would come to the early mass at Holy Trinity Church (we were just kids back then). To Mary and Family, Mary and I were 1st cousins the last of many Harkins. We called each other frequently. I and my daughters Susie and Kathy went to the farm in September 2023 to visit Mary. It was so wonderful. Mary- I'll miss you so much but you're up in heaven with your loved ones. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Mary was a wise, hardworking and fiercely stubborn force who proudly instilled the love of the family farm in her children and nieces and nephews. So many of my best memories were at the farm, around the kitchen table. She was a wonderful cook and always had a sweet treat and tea ready too. Her greatest achievements were the children and grandchildren and then the great grandchildren she spoke so proudly of. I know her loss will be felt by so many. Rest in peace Aunt Mary.
