Obituary

Karl Edward Waltz

Of Rockland, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Willowbend Retirement Community on August 12th, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Santa Monica, California, to Kenneth Waltz and Linnea Atkinson, he leaves behind a legacy marked by love and service.

He is survived by his son Michael Waltz (Michelle) of Knoxville, Tennessee, nieces Jennifer and Cynthia of Montreal, and nephew Shawn of Los Angeles. Karl proudly served as a 2nd Lt in the US Army and later earned his PhD in electronic engineering from Colorado State University. During his post-university travels, Karl met his beloved wife, the late Jeannine Labelle, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. His Roman Catholic faith brought him comfort and he cherished family gatherings, particularly holiday meals in Montreal. After moving to Canada from Tennessee in 2001, Karl spent his retirement nurturing his yard, repairing small electronics, and dedicating time to support groups for Alzheimer’s caregivers.

The family extends their gratitude to those who cared for Karl over the past 10 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.

Funeral service will be held at the Très-Sainte-Trinité Church, 2178 Laurier, Rockland, Ontario, on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 11 AM.
You may express your condolences to the family at church from 10:30 AM, before the service.

To my dear Mr Walsh: It is with much respect that I remember you visiting Mrs Walsh--your dear Jeannine at Centre d'accueil Roger-Séguin. You always had encouraging words for all of the staff.Your wonderful smile and sense of humor was welcomed to our busy days. The devotion you had for your wife is a lesson of love to all of us. You leave a big empty space, but you are remembered.

Karl was a longtime customer of mine for many years at autopro Rockland. He was a kind and gentle soul. An always routine when he came in for service with his vehicle, being a Plymouth neon which he greatly loved. His black coffee in a styrofoam cup and a good conversation we had every visit. He was very meticulous in every way. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his family
