Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Laurent Saumure, originally from Clarence Creek, Ontario, on October 24, 2025, at the age of 83.
A true pillar of his family, Laurent is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lise (nee Tassé), his two adored daughters: France (Raymond Charbonneau) and Chantal (Bernard Bergeron); his precious grandchildren: Stéphanie Boulay, Alexandre Boulay (Roxanne Dutrisac), Mélissa Bergeron (Sébastien Seyer), Julie and Alain Bergeron, and Julie Charbonneau-McAlpine (Dave McAlpine); and his beloved great-grandchildren: Victoria, Isabelle, Audrey-Anne, and Olivier Boulay, and Stefan Kostin.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers: Régine (Denis Éthier), Sister Marie-Monique, Philippe (Claire Sanscartier), Pierre (Joanne Collins), and Alain (Johanne Bélanger), as well as his in-laws, the Tassé family: Lucille, Germain (Louise Collins), the late Gilles (Liette Brunet), Fernande (the late Robert St-Louis), Denise (Bernard Lamarche) and Laurier, as well as several nephews and nieces.
He will be fondly remembered by his close friends Andy Sadler, Yves and Yvette Leroux, and Pierre Huard.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rodolphe Saumure and Marguerite Lavictoire; his brothers, Gaston (Henriette Hurtubise), Claude (Huguette Chartrand), and Jules (Francine Houle); and his two good friends, Roger Hotte and Robert Sanscartier.
Laurent was a man of vision who loved serving his community. He was a founding member of the Clarence Creek Optimist Club in 1980, where he served as president and lieutenant governor.
He was also a founding member of the Club l’Amicale Belle Rive, serving as president from January 1997 to February 2024. A very special thank you to Youri Brouchkov and his family for their friendship, valuable advice, and hospitality at Jardins Belle Rive over the years. Thank you to all the members of the Club l’Amicale Belle Rive for their support of Laurent during his 26 years as president. It was the greatest project of his life.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Hawkesbury General Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Centre (Martin Millaire) for the excellent care they provided to Laurent.
Laurent had one great wish: to see his little Audrey-Anne walk. To keep his wish alive, the family would be grateful for any donations to the CHEO Foundation in his memory.
