Obituary

Of Wendover, Ontario, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 53. He was the son of the late Gilbert Harrigan and Réjeanne Levesque (Lloyd). Loving father of Cynthia Harrigan (Mathieu). Dear brother of Ken Levesque (Annie), Robert Levesque (Paula) and Debbie Harrigan (Marc). He is also survived by his half-sisters Karen, Carolyn, Jennifer, and Sarah, and their respective families. Gilbert will also be missed by his nephews and nieces: Alex, Bailey, Kiera, Jacob, Zachary, and Félix, as well as many friends.

Gilbert was a man with a big heart, whose generosity and smile brightened the lives of those around him. A passionate fisherman and accomplished cook, he loved sharing these simple but precious moments with his family and friends. His courageous spirit and joie de vivre left a deep impression on all those who had the good fortune to know him, especially his daughter Cynthia, who cherishes the lessons, values, and unconditional love he gave her.

Gil will always hold a place in my heart. I loved spending time with him and because we worked side by side for so many years at CHEO, that is a lot of memories. He loved his daughter more than anything and was passionate about life. I will miss his smile and talking to him. You were one of a kind Gil.

Dear Family and close friends of Gil, I only heard of his passing yesterday. We knew of each other from his trip to PEI. He was a miracle of a man and made the most of life in his love to cook, connect, and laugh. I wish I had the chance to enjoy fishing with him. May his memory be eternal and his ability to cherish friendship be in ongoing force in our busy lives.

Je n’ai pas les mots justes pour exprimer à quel point je suis bouleversé par la perte de Gil. Il était bien plus qu’un ami pour moi — il était comme un frère. Son départ laisse un vide immense dans mon cœur. Gil a tant donné aux autres, souvent sans rien attendre en retour.
