(Nee Lackner) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Christine Ann Cyr (nee Lackner), who peacefully passed on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the age of 72. Born on August 12, 1950, in Cumberland, Ontario, Christine was the daughter of the late Michael and Jean Lackner (nee Warnock). Loving wife of Michel and devoted mother of Kyle and Melissa (Paul Gruner) and daughter-in-law Josée Chénier. Much loved grandmother to Angela (Elio Joseph) and Shawn and a great-grandmother to Ozea and Keziah. Family was at the center of Christine’s world. Cherished sister of Michelle (André Guindon), Janet (Bryan Boyle), and predeceased by her brother Kevin (Suzanne) Lackner. Christine will be fondly remembered by many in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness, Christine was a truly remarkable individual who always placed the needs of others before herself. Her memory will forever be a shining example of the power of genuine care and kindness. She approached challenges with unwavering strength and courage, inspiring all who knew her to face life’s trials with resilience and optimism. In honor of Christine’s memory, the family kindly requests donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in lieu of flowers. As we bid farewell to Christine, let us hold dear the memories we shared and the love she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain, guiding and inspiring us to live with kindness, courage, and gratitude.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Christine will be held on Friday July 7, 2023, at 10 am at St. Faustina Church, 2571 Ottawa Regional Rd 174, Cumberland, Ontario. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their fondest memories of Christine.

Dear Mike, Melissa and Kyle My sincere condolences to you all in the loss of a beautiful, wife, mom and friend.I met Christine at Canada Border Services Agency. It wasn’t long before we became friends and eventually the party of five was formed. We enjoyed many outings whether it be shopping or dinner. Christine was a very positive person who always made people see the brighter side of life. She had so much inner strength and ability. She was unique in every way and the type of person anyone would want to call a friend. When she was admitted to hospital a couple of weeks ago, her positivity shined through when she told me she would only be in the hospital for a couple of days and would talk to me soon. We didn’t have a chance to speak again. While my dear friend is no longer with us, she will remain forever in my heart.

My deepest condolences to Mike, Melissa,Kyle and family. I worked with Christine for a few months in the nineties but really didn't get to know her well until the Party of Five was formed. She was a cherished member of the POF and will always continue to be one. We enjoyed many wonderful meals, great discussions and outings over the years and more recently relied on Zoom calls to catch up. Christine had such a positive outlook and the one thing that was very clear early on was that her family was her everything. Christine, I will miss you. Donna

I had the good fortune to work with Christine at Canada Border Services Agency(CBSA). She was a skilled writer, analytical, a quick study and dynamic in the work environment. Our friendship blossomed and we became close friends as part of a group we called “Party of Five”. Always in touch, when we couldn’t be out and about we met on Zoom- catching up and sharing our stories. Christine had the biggest heart and inspired all of us with her positivity and zest for life. Family was always at her centre. A bright light in our lives, we are heart-broken at her loss. With love and appreciation my dear friend. I'm at a loss for words. Christine and I worked together at Canada Border Services for many years and later became the very best of friends. She was my mentor, my confidant and my friend. We formed this close knit group of ladies called "The Party of Five". Besides shopping, lunches and dinners out we shared each others trials and tribulations. God speed my friend. I grew up in Cumberland, on Kevin Crescent with the Lackner family as neighbors and Christine was often our babysitter.
