Mrs. Irène Mercier (Born Giroux) Of Wendover, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 102. Beloved wife of the late Jean-Yvon Mercier, the daughter of the late Aquila Giroux and the late Ella May Parisien. Dear mother of the late Michel. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Suzanne (Pierre Lacroix) and her son Jean-Yves (France Legris); her cherished grandchildren: Luc Lacroix (Anne-Marie Martin), Lucie Lacroix (Dominic St-Pierre), Mélanie Mercier (Luc LeBlanc), Caroline Mercier. Loving great-grandmother of: Samuel Lacroix, Jessica St-Pierre (Mathis Cadieux-Fredette), Cynthia St-Pierre, Brennan and Evan Leung. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Henri (late Irène Bilodeau), Laurette (late Aurélien ‘Ti-Loule’ Gladu), Lucien (late Gracia Facette), Aurèle (late Aline Facette), Cécile (late Léo Potvin), Jeanne (late Amédée Lebrun), Marie (late Émile Tessier), Annette (late Henri Fortier), Albert (late Jeannette Charbonneau), René (late Stella Houle), Maurice (late Hélène Taillefer), Rita (late Paul Trudeau), Aimé (late Thérèse Cyr), Aline (late Paul Rail), Léo (late Thérèse Houle), baby René and baby Oscar.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the entire team of the Villa St-Luc de Curran, also especially Gilles, the team of the Maison de l’est for their excellent care and compassion.

The funeral service will be held at the St-Benoit-Labre Church, 3182 Principale St, Wendover, Ontario on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:30am.

The family will receive condolences at the church from 10:30 a.m. prior the funeral mass.
