Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Cheryl in Ottawa on July 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Cheryl was the daughter of the late Leo and Bertha (Corriveau) McGee from Vinton, Quebec.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her sisters, Pauline and Joyce; her sister-in-law, Diane; and her brothers, Jimmy and Paul. She was predeceased by her brothers Dillon, John, and Leo Jr.
Beloved special Aunt to her many nieces and nephews, Natasha, Allison, James, Lesley, Ryan, Allison, Karina, Leesah, Maria and Stephane, her great nieces and nephews, Kirsten, Brendan, Emily, Nicholas, Leo, Raiden, Harrison, Aubree, Eden, Olivia, Spencer, Weston Parker, Harper, Owen, Charlie, baby Zakaria and Ilyan. They brought immense joy to her life.

Cheryl came to Ottawa after high school in search of employment. She started her first job at the bank of Canada in September 1970 where a lifelong friendship grew with Helen Finn. She moved onto the Federal Government where she retired after 35 years as an Assistant Manager with the RCMP, NPS Ident. division.
After retirement Cheryl enjoyed many years working part-time at The Shoe Company where she met her dear friend Christine Johnny who became family to her. She also enjoyed her years as a volunteer at St. Patrick’s Home in Ottawa.
Cheryl enjoyed playing her guitar. Back in the day she entertained many at a family party. She also had a talent for art, whether drawing cartoon characters, Aquarius, deer or JFK. In elementary school she submitted one of her drawings for a contest she found in the newspaper. Her drawing was selected and she received her prize in the mail. She loved her Toronto Maple Leafs despite them letting her down year after year.

Cheryl left an impression with everyone she met. Sometimes it was hard to get a word in edgewise.
